Jamshedpur: In a major move to bolster student safety, the East Singhbhum Education Department has issued stringent guidelines for all private schools in the district. The directive makes comprehensive background checks and constant surveillance mandatory for everyone associated with school operations.
Mandatory Verification for All Staff
According to the joint order issued by the District Education Officer (DEO) and the District Education Superintendent (DSE), police verification is now compulsory for teachers, non-teaching staff, and school van and auto drivers. Any individual coming into contact with students must obtain a character certificate before commencing work. Individuals with questionable backgrounds revealed during police checks will be strictly barred from school-related duties.
GPS and CCTV Mandate for Vehicles
Schools are now required to ensure that all transport vehicles are equipped with active GPS tracking systems and CCTV cameras. Counseling sessions for drivers will be conducted, and their complete profiles must be submitted to the local police. Furthermore, the presence of a female teacher or attendant is now mandatory in all school buses.
Triggered by Telco School Incident
This crackdown follows a recent case of molestation involving a van driver and a female student at a private school in the Telco area. “The safety of children is paramount. No compromise will be tolerated at any level,” stated a senior education official. School managements have been warned of strict legal action if they fail to maintain updated records of their staff’s verification status.
