Jamshedpur, May 20: The court of Principal District and Sessions Judge Anil Kumar Mishra Friday sentenced one Sanatan Lohar to life imprisonment for killing Anup Kumar Surekha alias Pappu Marwari of Parsudih. It also imposed a fine of Rs 60,000 on him under different sections of IPC.
The case dates back to December 2020 when Anup was shot dead by Lohar near Birsa Chowk under Olidh police station area. Lohar was later caught by local residents and thrashed before being handed over to police. Cops had recovered a country-made pistol from his possession.
Later, during investigation, Lohar told cops he had killed Anup to avenge his insult. He had told cops further that Anup had won a lot of money in gambling through trickery. When he protested, Anup slapped him. Irked over the incident, he killed him, police said in the FIR.
