Mail News Service
Jamshedpur, August 5: A consignment comprising 27 sacks with human hair being dispatched from Manmad for delivery to a Kolkata businessman by the Mumbai-Howrah Duranto Express on July 12 fell two short as they were stolen from the parcel van attached to the rear of the train. A pair of thieves broke open the lock of the parcel van as the train halted on the Kharkai Bridge awaiting track clearance signal to enter Tatanagar Junction. The train’s guard noticed the thieves once the Duranto Express started moving and he altered the RPF about the theft. RPF personnel investigating the case of theft nabbed Jugsalai Pahalwan Dera resident Md Golu while the other, reported to be the mastermind of the theft attempt managed to escape the dragnet. During questioning, Golu revealed that they did not know what was in the bag and being dark they pulled out two sacks unaware of the contents and tried to flee with them. Being heavy (each sack had 40 kilograms of hair), they dropped one of the bags in a bush with the intent of picking it up later. Later, the police recovered the bag as indicated by Golu while the other bag in the pilferer’s possession was seized by the RPF. Golu admitted that they found out about the contents only after opening the sack. Meanwhile, the RPF team is looking for Md Golu’s accomplice who is absconding since the incident.
