Jamshedpur: Rs 6 Cr proposal for smooth power supply in MGM College campus

Plans for separate WTP, renovation of main bldg, hostels, auditorium 

Jamshedpur, December 6: The 500-bedded hospital under construction at MGM Medical College campus, Dimna is proposed to be commissioned in March 2023.

In view of the expansion of the urban area and the needs of the hospital in the coming times, a proposal was made at the state level for dedicated drinking water and electricity for the college and hospital in a high-level meeting chaired byDeputy Commissioner Vijaya Jadhav it was decided to send this proposal, along with a water treatment plant of 1.5 million liters for the college campus, separate transformers for uninterrupted power supply.

At present there are seven deep borings in the college campus but this will not be enough after the new hospital is built. A proposal of about Rs 6 crores has been made for a strong electricity system in the college campus, which will be sent to the state level.

In view of the expansion of the urban area in the next 30 years, the Deputy Commissioner also directed the Executive Officer of Mango Municipal Corporation to send a proposal to the Municipal Development Department to set up a separate water treatment plant (WTP) of 10 million liters for the municipal area.

Renovation of MGM College’s main building, boys and girls hostel, guest house, auditorium was also discussed in the meeting. The principal of the college said that since the establishment of the college in 1961, no renovation work has been done, in such a situation there is a dire need for better maintenance of the buildings.

The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Engineer of the Building Construction Department to make an estimate for the renovation of the auditorium and hostels by December 16 on priority basis.

MGM Administrator-cum-ADM Law and Order N. K Lal said that by March the new hospital starts in the MGM College campus only then construction work will be started in MGM Hospital as well. He told that necessary resources have been made available to increase 20 beds in the Department of Women and Childbirth, which will be available in the next two days to serve the patients.
