City records 172 new infections, 335 recoveries, 5 deaths
Jamshedpur, May 23: Jamshedpur has logged less than 200 daily coronavirus cases for the second time in a single week. 172 new infections were recorded on Sunday, May 23.Earlier on May 20, Jamshedpur reported 183 positive cases.
On April 7, Jamshedpur recorded 149 positive cases.
It appears to be early signs that the more dangerous Covid wave is receding from the city. The Steel City’s case positivity rate has also dropped to 5.53 percent.
The positivity rate of Covid-19 cases in Jamshedpur is around 5.53 per cent after East Singhbhum conducted over 3500 tests in the last 24 hours. The Steel City tested 3645 samples, of which, 172 turned out positive while 335 people recovered from the Covid-19 on Sunday, May 23.
Meanwhile, 5 deaths were recorded in the same duration. The continuous high number of tests have pushed the positivity rate further down to 5.53 per cent, the government data showed.
The recovery rate has climbed to 92.93% while the active cases have come down to 2628
335 positive people recovered of the virus on Sunday pushing the recovery mark to 45347.
Deaths due to the virus continue to be sign of worry as 5 people succumbed due to Covid on Sunday, May 23, East Singhbhum Covid bulletin said.
City reported 9 deaths on Sunday while district’s positive cases tally has mounted to 48968. According to the data provided by the East Singhbhum district health department on Sunday 5 fatalities were due to the Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours. The death toll has climbed to 989.
East Singhbhum district administration has conducted 332456 test per million in the district.
As per the records of health department out of 3645 people who underwent Covid tests in East Singhbhum 172 were found positive.
Over 3500 COVID-19 tests, including 1582 RT-PCR and 1694 RAT were conducted in the last 24 hours in the city.
The recovery rate in Jamshedpur is 92.93% while the mortality rate is 2.03%.
So far in Jamshedpur 886211 samples have been collected out of which 884998 have been tested and 836030 have turned out to be negative.
