Jamshedpur, March 18. The first patient of influenza virus H3N2 has been found in Sakchi.
After confirmation of the virus in the said patient, she has been admitted to the isolation ward of Tata Main Hospital.
Meanwhile, the health department has been put on high alert. All the hospitals have been instructed to take precautionary measures and step up surveillance of all such cases having influenza like symptoms.
Civil surgeon Dr. Jujhar Manjhi has confirmed the first patient was found. He said that so far samples of 22 patients with possible symptoms had been sent to the VDRL unit of MGM Medical College Hospital for examination, in which one sample has turned positive.
The age of the woman is 68 years.
He said that all private and government hospitals in the district have been instructed to take samples of patients with possible symptoms in view of the said virus. He said that the health department is fully alert.
District Surveillance Officer Dr Asad told that the patient of H3N2 is a resident of Sakchi. Its initial symptoms are cold, cold, body pain, fever etc. People with such symptoms should be careful not to spread the infection.
