Jamshedpur, March 28: Sweltering heat gripped Jamshedpur and surrounding areas in Jharkhand, with the mercury soaring to 38.6 degrees Celsius by 8:30 am on Thursday. The maximum temperature recorded was 1.2 degrees Celsius above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 22.6 degrees Celsius, marking an increase of 1.8 degrees above normal.
Meteorologist Dr. Anand from the Ranchi Center attributed the rising temperatures to the influence of a western disturbance, resulting in an escalation of both maximum and minimum temperatures. The forecast suggests the likelihood of rain in western, southern, and adjacent central parts of the state, including capital Ranchi, Bokaro, Gumla, Hazaribagh, Khunti, Ramgarh, Deoghar, Jamtara, Giridih, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, and Seraikela Kharsawan until Thursday evening or night. A yellow alert has been issued in anticipation of these weather conditions.
