Jamshedpur, June 9: Bhim Gope, a prisoner lodged in Ghatshila Jail since April 24, 2020 on charges of rape, died on Friday morning.
His treatment was going on in the subdivision hospital. Meanwhile, the doctors declared him dead. Bhim Gope was originally a resident of Asantalia village under Sonua police station area of West Singhbhum district. The information of the incident has also been given to his family members. Here, after the incident, the police has sent the dead body to MGM Medical College for postmortem.
There was a complaint of pain in the throat. It was told about the prisoner Bhim Gope that late on Thursday night he had complained of severe pain in the throat. After this, he was given gas medicine from the jail hospital itself. When he did not get relief even after taking the medicine, he was admitted to the sub-division hospital in Ghatshila by the jail administration. He died in the hospital itself.
A case of rape was registered against Bhim Gop in the year 2019. He was absconding after the incident. The police arrested him on 24 April 2020 and sent him to jail. Since then he is in jail.
Jailer in-charge Satyendra Kumar Singh says that prisoner Bhim Gop died due to heart attack while exact reason will be known after post mortem.
