Jamshedpur raid cracks Bengal’s gold trader murder heist case ; two arrested

Jamshedpur , Oct 8: In a significant breakthrough, West Bengal Police raided Jamshedpur and arrested two key suspects in connection with the daylight murder of gold trader Shankar Jana and the theft of 15 kg of gold in Shambhunath Das Lane at Baranagar.

The gang, posing as customers, stormed Jana’s jewellery shop, overpowered him, tied his hands and legs, and looted a huge quantity of gold before killing him.

They sprayed red chilli powder into his eyes to immobilize him, disabled CCTV cameras, and executed the heist with precision. During interrogation, the arrested suspects revealed that part of the stolen gold had been moved to Jamshedpur. Acting on the lead, police apprehended Chandan and Prince from Sitaramdera.

Sources said the gang had been closely monitoring major gold consignments for weeks, carefully planning the attack.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the business community, creating an atmosphere of fear in the area.

Police are continuing efforts to recover the remaining gold and track down other absconding gang members.
