Jamshedpur, April 24: Former Chief Minister and national vice president of Bharatiya Janata Party Raghubar Das spoke to the Jharkhand Director General of Police Ajay Kumar Singh over telephone and told him that many innocent people have been named as accused in the Shastrinagar communal disturbance case.
He requested that names of innocent people should be removed after getting the matter investigated by the senior police officer.
The DGP assured the DIG of Kolhan to investigate the matter. Earlier, Das met the BJP men sent to judicial custody in connection with the Shastri Nagar case at Central Jail, Ghaghidih. He wanted to know under what circumstances they were brought? While some told that they were caught for raising slogans of ‘Jai Shri Ram’, the officials of Vishwa Hindu Parishad told that they were caught and locked up when they went to give memorandum to the officer against the disturbance.
Most of the people said that they did not know for what crime they were arrested. The former chief minister assured them that he would find every legitimate way to get them justice. Describing the Shastri Nagar violence as unfortunate, Das said that if the district administration had wanted, this incident would not have become a fire from a spark. In fact, such incidents will happen in the chariot of communalism on which Chief Minister Hemant Soren wants to reach the destination of appeasement.
On the other hand, the Iftar party of Congress and JMM people was going on at Ganesh Puja Ground, Kadma. No permission was taken from the administration for this party. When the people involved in this party came to know about the meeting of the flag worshipers, they reached there with a force. Stones were pelted on the people holding the meeting. The vehicles were set on fire. The matter did not stop here, stones were also pelted at the policemen stationed there. And what happened then, everyone knows.
In this whole incident, the district administration appeared to be sleepy. When a small spark became a fire, the administration started exposing its shortcomings.
When a delegation of ten members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad went to give a memorandum against this incident, they were arrested.
The former chief minister has expressed hope that the DIG will exonerate the accused in his supervision report.
