Jamshedpur: Rabi workshop to empower farmers and enhance agricultural yield

Jamshedpur: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Ananya Mittal, a District-Level Rabi Workshop was organized at the District Agriculture Office Auditorium, Joint Agriculture Building, Khasmahal, Parsudih. The workshop aimed to educate farmers and officials about advanced agricultural practices and government schemes to boost crop production and efficiency.

The program was inaugurated by the chief guest, District Council President Bari Murmu, who highlighted the importance of connecting deserving farmers with various agricultural schemes to increase their income. She urged department officials to address farmers’ concerns promptly and stay connected with them to ensure the effective implementation of schemes.

The District Agriculture Officer explained that the workshop is conducted annually during the Kharif and Rabi seasons to provide detailed technical insights into enhancing the production of paddy, pulses, oilseeds, and coarse grains. Farmers were introduced to the NFSM agricultural mechanization scheme, the Birsa seed distribution program offering 100% subsidies, the Kusum scheme, Kisan Samridhi Yojana, and the drip irrigation system under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana.

Other officials, including the District Animal Husbandry Officer, District Fisheries Officer, and Lead District Manager, also shared information about their respective schemes. The representative of HDFC-ERGO provided detailed guidance on the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana to encourage insurance adoption among farmers.

During the event, beneficiary farmers received agricultural equipment to support their work. Power weeders were distributed to Nitesh Singhdev of Potka block, while pumpsets were given to Uttam Kumar Singh and Gautam Kumar Mandal under the Food and Nutrition Security Scheme (ATMA), with a 50% subsidy.

The workshop witnessed the participation of District Agriculture and allied department officials, scientists from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Krishak Mitra, and a large number of farmers. The initiative served as a platform to equip farmers with the knowledge and tools necessary for sustainable agricultural development.
