Jamshedpur: In a crucial meeting chaired by District Election Officer Ananya Mittal, representatives of various private companies operating in the district gathered to review the progress of updating the voter list, specifically focusing on employees who have relocated after the demolition of company quarters. The meeting highlighted significant delays in the process, with only 3 out of 87 affected booths having provided the necessary data.
During the review, Mittal expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of progress, noting that the slow response from the companies was hindering the accuracy of the voter list. He emphasized the importance of this task in ensuring a clean and error-free voter roll ahead of the upcoming elections. Companies were given a strict deadline of five more days to submit the required employee details in the prescribed format.
The District Election Officer pointed out that during the door-to-door voter verification process conducted by Booth Level Officers (BLOs), it was discovered that many company quarters had been demolished, resulting in employees vacating and relocating. This relocation has created challenges in verifying the current voter status of these individuals. Mittal urged the management of companies within the 48-Jamshedpur East, 49-Jamshedpur West, and 45-Ghatsila Assembly Constituencies to cooperate fully with the District Election Office. He stressed the need for updated addresses and contact information of relocated employees to ensure proper notice and verification.
In a bid to clean the voter list, companies were instructed to cross-reference the list of absent, shifted, and deceased voters provided by the District Election Office with their Human Resource Management System (HRMS). The goal is to update or remove names from the voter list in accordance with the Election Commission’s regulations. Additionally, voters themselves can facilitate this process by updating their details through the 1950 helpline number, Voter Helpline App, or by contacting their BLO.
The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Yogendra Prasad, Deputy Election Officer Priyanka Singh, LRDCC Gautam Kumar, SDM Dhalbhum Parul Singh, and representatives from major companies including Tata Steel, Jusco, Tata Cummins, Tata Power, Tata Motors, Wire Company, HCL/ICC Moubhandar, UCIL, among others.
