Jamshedpur, April 25: Power and water supply problems of residents along the Girls’ School Road and Dhobi Line in Ward 10 of Jugsalai Municipality are irked as problems continue to multiply. On Monday, the local people, under the leadership of social worker Damodar Shani Baba, submitted a memorandum to the District Deputy Commissioner and demanded solution to the water and power supply problems being faced by the residents of these Jugsalai localities. The memorandum submitted to the DC mentioned that under the scorching summer conditions people were unable to sleep or perform necessary chores due to the hide and seek nature of water and power supply. The denizens, vide the memorandum complained that power supply was cut off after every two hours especially at night when power goes off after half an hour when people sleep. The residents after facing the power problems at night wake up to water woes in the morning.

The memorandum to the DC further stated that earlier water supply used to commence at 5:30 am but, as of now water supply had become erratic. The Jugsalai citizens complained that earlier, water was supplied from Dimna through a 24 inch diameter pipe but now, after the supply started from Baroda Ghat reservoir, water was being supplied through a pipeline of four inch diameter. The officials of both the departments and Jugsalai Municipality were not serious about resolving these serious issues and neither did they offer any logical reasons. Manju Devi, Vivek Rajak, Ashok Sharma, Pinky Devi, Janardan Singh, Kajal Kumari, Sanju Devi, Sameer Sharma and other residents of Jugsalai Ward 10 were members of the delegation that handed the memorandum at the DC’s office.
