Jamshedpur, Oct 22 :  In a major breakthrough, Jamshedpur police have arrested dreaded criminal Saurabh Sharma alias Rinku Seth from Shahpura area in Jaipur, Rajasthan, bringing an end to his long run from the law.

The gangster, wanted in several cases including murder, attempt to murder, extortion, and possession of illegal arms, was captured on October 19 following a prompt and well-coordinated operation.

According to sources, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jamshedpur received intelligence inputs indicating that Rinku Seth was hiding in Jaipur after planning a major crime.

Acting on the tip-off, a special police team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters-1) was formed under the supervision of the City SP.

The team conducted a rapid raid and apprehended the fugitive from Ward No. 3, Hardaswali, Shahpura, Jaipur.

Rinku Seth was a key accused in the Sitaramdera firing case, in which one person was killed and another injured.

While police had already arrested eight members of the gang in that case, Rinku Seth had managed to evade capture.

During his time on the run, he reportedly tried to revive the Amar Nath Singh gang, instigating a series of violent crimes to reassert control over the city’s extortion network.

Investigations revealed that Rinku was actively coordinating with the Amar Nath gang to extort money from land dealers and businessmen.

Police suspect his involvement in a murder case in Mango and an attempted shooting in Bodam.

His aim, officials believe, was to rebuild his criminal empire and spread fear across Jamshedpur.

A police officer stated that Rinku Seth has a long criminal history and had earlier served time in jail for serious offenses including robbery, firing incidents, and extortion.

After being released, he resumed illegal activities, attempting to reestablish his dominance in the city’s underworld.

During the arrest, police recovered an Android mobile phone used for co-ordinating his operations.

Officers Akshay Kumar, Sharique Ali, Ravishankar Kumar, Mithlesh Kumar Maurya, and Jayjay Kumar were part of the special team that carried out the operation successfully.

Police officials described the arrest as a significant achievement, not just for apprehending a hardened criminal but also for dismantling an emerging criminal network attempting to reemerge in the city.

The case underscores the renewed vigilance and use of technology by Jamshedpur police to track and curb organized crime.

However, the incident also exposes a deeper concern — that several dormant gangs in Jharkhand are attempting to reactivate their networks.

Criminals released from prison are trying to reclaim their territories, posing a renewed challenge for law enforcement.

While Rinku Seth’s arrest marks a major victory, it also serves as a reminder that the roots of organized crime remain entrenched, demanding sustained and aggressive policing efforts to uproot them completely.
