Country-made pistol and two live cartridges recovered

Jamshedpur, June 26: The police on Tuesday arrested two criminals who were involved in a number of cases of loot in the city and also in Kapali area in adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district. Those arrested have been identified as Mohammed Sadab Hussain alias Sadab Bachha (26) and Mohammed Firoz alias Kana Firoz (25), both residents of Azadnagar in Mango.

The police have recovered a country-made pistol and two live cartridges from the possession of those arrested.

Senior SP, Anoop Birthray said that three unidentified bike-borne crimnals had April 29 shot dead a 32-year-old businessman while committing a loot near Shitla Mandir in Sakchi. In the incident another businessman, Kamar Iqbal had also sustained grievous gun-shot injuries.

He said Imran had already been arrested in connection with an attempted loot of a Golmuri-based businessman four days ago, but Sadab and Firoz were arrested from Azadnagar early this morning.

Apart from major incidents of loot on the streets, the incidents like snatching of cellphone and cash at various parts of the city has become regular.

“There has been a spurt in petty crimes in the city. We have been successful in arresting quite a few thieves involved in the reported cases but I think there is a need to ensure proper night watch. We are planning to increase the movement of mobile police and vigil,” noted a police official.

He went on to add that maximum cases of thefts have been reported from Bistupur, Sakchi and Golmuri areas this year. The police would increase vigil in these areas.
