Jamshedpur, June 8: Police on Friday arrested a 31-year-old man, Sonu Singh, who was absconding after being involved in an abduction-cum-murder case registered with the Kadma police station on March 21.
Originally a resident of Bhojpur district in Bihar the accused was staying at Bhatia Bustee in Kadma and was involved in the abduction and murder of a 45-year-old man Jawahar Lal from his house in Bhatia Bustee.
In connection to the case, the police have arrested four persons but Sonu who is the main accused in the case was on the run and was caught from his residence at Bhatia Bustee in Kadma.
Revealing about the breakthrough, superintendent of police (city) Prabhat Kumar said that Jawahar Lal had taken Rs 2 lakh from Sonu for providing him two `kattha’ of land at Chaas in Bokaro a year ago, but he could neither provide him the land as he had promised nor did he return the money.
“Out of rage, Sonuplanned with nine others and got him murdered at Rajnagar in the adjoining Seraikela-Kharsawan district on March 21, after abduction from his house in Bhatia Bustee on March 18 morning,” said Kumar.
The City SP said in this connection, they had registered a case of abduction and murder with Kadmapolice station on the FIR lodged by Sandhya Devi, widow of the murder victim. He said the Kadma police had earlier arrested four of the 10 accused, but Sonu who is the main accused was absconding, but was finally arrested over two months after the murder.
