Jamshedpur, July 28: With the arrival of Muharram, the police have heightened security measures to ensure a peaceful and safe observance of this sacred occasion. Prabhat Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) has announced high alert and implemented a ban on the display of deadly weapons during Muharram processions and gatherings. In a bid to proactively address potential threats, the police are also closely monitoring social media platforms.
Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar, holds significant religious importance for the Muslim community. Devotees participate in processions, gatherings, and events to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussain, the grandson of Prophet Muhammad. To prevent any untoward incidents and maintain public order, the police have taken comprehensive measures to ensure the safety of all citizens during this solemn period.

Speaking about the security arrangements, SSP stated, “The safety and security of our citizens are our topmost priority during Muharram. To maintain peace and harmony, we have declared a state of high alert and will not tolerate any disruptions to public order. As a precautionary measure, we have strictly prohibited the display of deadly weapons, and our officers will be deployed to enforce this ban effectively.”
The ban on the display of deadly weapons is aimed at preventing any potential escalation of tensions during processions and gatherings. The police will be conducting thorough checks at various checkpoints to ensure compliance with this restriction.

Furthermore, in response to the evolving digital landscape, the police have extended their surveillance to social media platforms. The SSP emphasized that monitoring social media will enable them to detect and prevent any potential misinformation or provocative content that could incite unrest during Muharram.
“We have observed that social media platforms can be misused to spread rumors and false information, which can have serious repercussions on the law and order situation. Our cyber teams are actively monitoring various platforms to identify and address such content promptly,” the SSP added.

The police have also urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities or information they come across on social media. Cooperation from the public, the police believe, is essential in ensuring a peaceful and secure Muharram for everyone.
The police department has assured citizens that they are fully prepared to handle any situation that may arise during Muharram and has called for the public’s cooperation to make this religious observance a peaceful and meaningful one.
