Jamshedpur, July 23: In a major breakthrough, the police arrested three persons namely, Amulya Karmakar (49), Ram Ravidas (24) and Vishwanath Munda (21) involved in murder of� 29-year-old lawyer, Prakash Yadav at Birsanagar. The police claimed that Yadav was murdered due to personal enmity.
East Singhbhum senior SP, M Tamil Vanan addressed a press briefing after detection of the case on Thursday. He informed that the lawyer’s murder was conspired after the land mafia, Amulya Karmakar and the neighbours joined hands to end his life.
Vanan had set up an SIT led by city SP, Subhash Chandra Jat for the detection of the case a day after the lawyer was murdered on Tuesday night.� Jat along with over half-a-dozen police officers, including two deputy superintendents of police not only arrested those involved, but also recovered some weapon used in the murdered, blood-stained clothes of the assailants, cellphone of conspirators Amulya Karmakar and Rs 19,500 cash recovered.
According to police sources Yadav would allegedly extort money from a land mafia by filing litigation against him on each and every land deal, thus earning the ire of the land mafia, on the other hand he had also developed enmity with two neighbours by humiliating them on the basis of their castes.
Revealing about the breakthrough, Vanan said they had taken Amulya into custody the same night Yadav was murdered.
“During the probe we found that Amulya, who used to run a racket of selling government land, gave in and confessed his crime.� He pointed out that Yadav was disturbing him in running his business’ smoothly since the past five-six years. � He (Yadav) would demand money against every deal and if he was refused, then he would submit a petition against the land mafia with the local police station or with the sub-divisional office demanding enquiry. �This is why Amulya was planning to eliminate the lawyer from the way. �Incidentally, two neighbours Ravidas and Munda whom Yadav would humiliate by calling names on the basis of their castes joined him,” Vanan said while addressing the media.
According to sources, a section of local goons connected to the saffron party runs a racket of encroachment of land for selling. In view of rising encroachment, Yadav used to oppose them and would prevent them from grabbing the government land by lodging complaints with the local police and also with the Dhalbhum SDO. Yadav had also mentioned about the threat on his life in a Facebook message posted hours before his murder.
