Jamshedpur, March 6: The police administration on Monday started final exercise for the peaceful completion of the Holi festival. In this sequence, the police conducted a flag march in the sensitive areas.
Patrolling and checking of youth and others present in the area was done to look for drugs and other banned material. The police also told the residents to play Holi safely without consuming drugs, alcohol and without indulging in sexual harassment.

A police official said, “The flag march was carried out to make residents aware of crimes which occur on the day of Holi.” The police also held a drive against triple riding. They made residents aware of helmet wearing.
SSP Prabhat Kumar said for Holi, 35 points had been marked in the city where police teams would be on special duty to ensure safety of all. Security had been tightened near schools, colleges, malls and theatres.

Tight security has been ensured for the Holi festival. In view of the sensitivity of the city, the flag march was conducted. Sector scheme has been implemented in the entire district. The places where Holika will be burnt. Everyone should celebrate the festival with peace and harmony, during this time if someone creates chaos, the police will deal with it strictly. Even if he is the most influential person, he will not be spared at any cost.
All the police stations of the East Singhbhum have been asked to take up measures to prevent hooligans from creating law and order problems on the festival day. Cops have been directed to keep an eye on people who roam in the streets after consuming liquor and create nuisance.

“Small time criminals cross the limits on the pretext of Holi celebration and many a time this creates problems for the police. Keeping in mind the possible scenario we have asked the officer in-charge’s of the police stations to carry out arms checking exercises and pace up patrolling for the next couple of days,” said the official.
Magistrates, police officers, including constables, have been deployed in large numbers to maintain peace and harmony in sensitive areas like Jugsalai, Mango, Sakchi and Dhatkidih, he said.
The police officials said that strict security would be in place for the festival of colours and those indulging in mischief in the garb of revelry would be taken to task.
Meanwhile the city police department is working hard in keeping a stringent vigilance on eve-teasers during Holi, as incidents of eve-teasing and passing lewd comments on girls and women are reported the most during this season. Cops in plainclothes have been deployed for a watchful eye on crowds especially youths, who indulge in eve-teasing.
He went on to add that the move which will stop people from driving while consuming alcohol, consumption of liquor in public, buying and even transporting liquor from one place to another has been banned.
