Jamshedpur police bust gang of robbers, five criminals arrested

Jamshedpur, August 18 : The police have busted a gang of robbers by arresting five criminals from different places in Dimna area and adjoining Bodam and Patamda police station  area.

Those arrested had robbed owner of a grocery shop at Mahtobandh in Govindpur village under MGM police station  area on October 27 last.  Led by Arvind Das (35), the robbers had taken away Rs 2 lakh cash, gold ornaments and a smartphone from the house of the shop-owner, Jogeswar Mahto at Govindpur at gun point.

The victim had lodged an FIR against unidentified criminals with the MGM police station  area in the morning of October 27, leading the police to investigate the case.

OC, MGM police station , Arvind Kumar said the criminals were arrested about 10 months after the robbery as one of them had activated the smartphone that they had robbed along with the gold jewlries and cash.

The police put the robbed smartphone on tracking, expecting that sooner or later one of the robbers would activate the gadget.  The criminals did what we had expected. As one of them activated the smartphone, we got the location of smartphone and traced. It was Arvind Das, a resident of Mirzadih village in Bodam who had opened the phone and we arrested from his house early this morning.  Later on interrogating, they arrested the rest of the accused who are Banti Tiwary (27), Ravi Bahadur (22), Vishal Kumar (39) and Dipak Tamaria (28).
