Jamshedpur, August 21: In a significant crackdown, Parsudih police arrested five members of a bike theft gang and recovered five stolen motorcycles based on their information. The arrested individuals include Kapali residents Mohd. Rehmad and Saddam Hussain, Kowali resident Tasleem Ansari, and two minors whose identities have been withheld. Saddam Hussain was apprehended on charges of purchasing a stolen bike.
The operation began when the Parsudih police received a tip-off that two youths were planning to sell a bike near Sopodera Gandhi Maidan without proper documentation. Acting swiftly on this information, a police team arrived at the scene and apprehended Mohd. Rehmad and Tasleem Ansari. During interrogation, the duo confessed to stealing motorcycles and selling them. They revealed that they had sold a stolen bike to Saddam Hussain, leading to his arrest and the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
Further investigation led the police to recover additional stolen bikes from two minors in Kowali. According to Parsudih police station in-charge Faiz Ahmed, the gang primarily operated in the Kapali area, with Mohd. Rehmad responsible for stealing the bikes and Tasleem Ansari tasked with selling them in rural areas. The stolen bikes were sold for amounts ranging between Rs 2500 and Rs 8000. The minors were reportedly involved in the thefts, lured by the promise of money.
The arrested individuals are currently in police custody, and further investigations are underway to trace any additional stolen vehicles and potential accomplices in the gang’s operations. The police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to help curb bike thefts in the region.
