Jamshedpur police arrest two youths from Hazaribagh in cyber fraud case, Rs 1 lakh cash recovered

Jamshedpur, June 18: The Bistupur Cyber ??Police Station arrested two youths Pawan Kumar and his brother Chandan Kumar in a cyber fraud case from Hazaribagh.The team nabbed them after a raid at Hazaribagh. The police have also recovered RsOne lakh, mobiles and laptops while eight accounts of different banks have been seized. The bank accounts have a deposit of Rs 10 lakhs.

According to Cyber ??Police Inspector Upendra Mandal, during investigation the police team found there has been a transaction of Rs68 lakhs from the accounts of both the accused. The police also scanned mobile phones and gathered important data related to bank transactions.

The arresting was made in a case related to an FIR filed in 2018. In the same year a withdrawal of Rs62,500 was made from the bank account of Ajay Ojha, resident of Anandnagarunder Golmuri police station area. An FIR was registered in the cyber cell soon after the incident. During investigation police managed to identify Pawan and Chandan Kumar of Hazaribaghto have been involved in cheat case.

While Pawan is 22 year of age, Chandan is 20 years old. They have been nabbed by the police earlier too.

A police official said that with the city going hi-tech, cybercrime cases are also on the rise. He pointed out that people should be aware of the recruitment processes of major companies in order to avoid being duped. They should also come forward to prefer a complaint rather than withdrawing into a shell and being secretive about the whole incident. Their complaints will help saving other people from becoming victims, he added.

The crime has shot up this year, going by the increasing number of petitions and complaints that the police are receiving.  The latest trend in cybercrime is that of sending e-mails announcing, attractive prizes, job offers i.e., appointment letters from reputed companies wherein the prospective candidates are asked to responding to the mail for a job in upcountry destinations with reputed corporates. Jamshedpur is one of the most vulnerable cities in the country as people here are generally ignorant. Police must take steps to spread awareness and also tighten noose around those involved.
