Jamshedpur: In a breakthrough, a drug peddler Afsar Ali was arrested by Jamshedpur police. He was arrested after he was released from the Seraikela divisional jail.
A team of police officials from Sitaramdera police station arrested Ali as he was wanted in a case under Arms Act registered since June 2022.
OC, Sitaramdera, Meghnath Mandal said that Ali would earlier reside at Adityapur Muslim Bustee in Adityapur where he used to run the illegal trade of brown sugar.
He pointed out that during a drive against the trade by the Seraikela-Kharsawan police to arrest Ali after nabbing lady drug kingpin Dolly Perveen in July 2020, his wife Salma Khatoon shifted their residence from Adityapur Muslim Bustee to Sitaramdera in the steel city. After shifting to Sitaramdera, Salma started drug peddling there and was arrested in June 2022.
The OC said they were keeping an eye on Ali’s attempts regarding his bail in the case and as soon as he was released from the Seraikela divisional jail, he was arrested.
The OC said that Ali would resume the drug peddling business here at Sitaramdera once he is out on bail. This made the police arrest him.
After Ali’s arrest, he was today lodged in the Ghaghidih central jail.
