Jamshedpur: Paddy Procurement to begin on December 15

Jamshedpur: Kharif marketing season for 2024-25 is set to commence with paddy procurement beginning on December 15, 2024. District Magistrate cum Deputy Commissioner  Ananya Mittal has urged farmers to avoid middlemen and sell their produce exclusively at the nearest LAMPS (Large Area Multi-Purpose Societies) in their respective blocks.

Preparations for the procurement drive are complete, with designated LAMPS selected as procurement centers. Equipment installations, manpower deployment, and the tagging of rice millers have been finalized to ensure a smooth process.

This year, the government has set the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for paddy at ₹2300 per quintal, along with a bonus of ₹100 per quintal, ensuring fair compensation for farmers.

The District Magistrate appealed to farmers to refrain from selling paddy in the open market below the MSP. “The State Government has fixed the MSP and bonus for paddy to protect farmers’ interests. Utilize the facilities provided and sell your produce at LAMPS for a fair price,” said  Ananya Mittal.

To ensure farmers are well-informed, the District Magistrate has directed officers including the District Supply Officer, District Agriculture Officer, District Cooperative Officer, Block Agriculture Officer, Block Supply Officer, Block Cooperative Officer, and Krishak Mitras to conduct widespread awareness campaigns.
