Jamshedpur: Opposition parties joined their hands to protest the land acquisition law passed by the Jharkhand government before the Jamshedpur Collectorate on Monday.
The Opposition leaders said the Jharkhand bandh called by the grand alliance of the anti-BJP parties against the land acquisition law on 5th July will draw the battle lines between the BJP and the Opposition parties. They called for the integrity and unity of all Opposition parties on the issues affecting the Adivasis and Moolvasis of Jharkhand.
District Congress president Vijay Khan said the BJP government had displaced many Adivasis and Moolvasis from their homes in the name of development. The state government has failed to bring about development in Jharkhand despite having built buildings all over the state, he said.
Also present on the occasion, district JMM president Ramdas Soren assailed the state government further for allegedly shutting down 12,000 schools in the remote and interior parts of the state and thereby depriving students of education.
Soren demanded that the BJP government should withdraw its land acquisition law or else the grand Opposition alliance will be compelled to wage a battle against its policies.
The parties present during the agitation included SUCI, JVM (Prajatantrik) and RJD.
Among those present during the agitation programme included district JVM president Babua Singh, Rakesh Sahu, Ramashraya Prasad and SRA Rizvi Chhabban.
