Jamshedpur: One arrested in poll day riot case

Jamshedpur: Police arrested one Mohammad Sultan, a resident of Purani Basti Road, Jugsalai, in connection with the incident of stone-pelting on police during Lok Sabha election on 12th May last.

The accused was arrested on the basis of CCTV footage and photographs taken from the scene of riot outside a polling booth in Jugsalai on the day of occurrence, police officials said.

Cops said they have arrested a total of five persons in connection with the rioting during polls. There are 67 people, named in the FIR lodged after the incident, still at large, said Nityanand Mahato, officer-in-charge of Jugsalai PS.

Meanwhile, a meeting of peace committee members was held at Jugsalai police station on Thursday. Many people belonging to different communities were present on this occasion. It was decided to assist police in keeping peace during Eid.
