Jamshedpur on High alert: City SP leads security sweep in Jubilee Park

Jamshedpur: With New Year’s Eve celebrations expected to draw massive crowds across the Steel City, Jamshedpur Police has stepped up security arrangements to ensure a safe and peaceful atmosphere. On Wednesday, City SP Kumar Shivashish personally led a high-level security inspection at Jubilee Park, one of the city’s most crowded destinations during the festive season.

Accompanied by senior police officials and field officers, the City SP conducted an extensive patrolling exercise inside the park. The inspection focused on crowd management preparedness, deployment of police personnel, placement of static pickets, and the operational readiness of emergency response teams.

During the inspection, City SP Kumar Shivashish said the police administration has adopted a zero-tolerance approach towards hooliganism and unlawful activities. He stated that adequate forces have been deployed in both uniform and plain clothes to keep a close watch on suspicious activities. Anyone found involved in drunk driving, misbehavior, harassment, or creating a public nuisance will face immediate and strict legal action, he added.

To strengthen security, enhanced CCTV surveillance has been activated at Jubilee Park and major intersections, along with drone monitoring. Police checkpoints with breathalyzer tests have been set up at key entry and exit points of the city to curb drunk driving. Quick Response Teams have also been stationed near picnic spots, malls, and crowded areas to respond swiftly to any untoward incident.

The traffic wing has introduced temporary restrictions on select routes leading to Jubilee Park, with heavy vehicles barred from entering designated zones to ensure smooth pedestrian movement and reduce congestion.

The City SP appealed to citizens to cooperate with police personnel on duty, follow traffic rules, and immediately report any suspicious activity to nearby police stations or emergency helpline numbers.

Apart from Jubilee Park, heightened security arrangements have also been put in place at Dimna Lake, Hudco Lake, and various clubs and event venues across the city. The visible presence of senior officers on the ground has reassured residents and visitors as Jamshedpur prepares to welcome the New Year.
