Police nabs couple over ghastly murder

Jamshedpur, April 24: Sonari resident’s alleged girlfriend, along with her husband, cut the dead body into four pieces after killing her boyfriend from Odisha.

 After this, all the four pieces were thrown in different areas. The matter came to light when the wife of the deceased filed a missing complaint in the police station. Police investigation revealed that the deceased had come to Jamshedpur. After this the police reached Jamshedpur and arrested the accused husband and wife.

In fact, Damrudhar Mahanty alias Vicky, a resident of Rairangpur ward number 7 of Odisha, was missing since March 20. Vicky’s wife Inushree Mahanty had complained about the matter to the local police station on 13 April. While probing the matter, the Odisha Police reached Jamshedpur on Sunday and arrested the alleged girlfriend Sonari resident Khushboo Sagar and her husband Kamalkant Sagar. On his tip, the police raided late night and recovered Vicky’s head in a bag near Jambani of Kamalpur-Bodam police station border and the abdominal part of the body near Thanthani Ghati of Patmada.

Police is searching for the other body part near Chandil on the Tata-Ranchi highway.

After the case was registered in Odisha, a team was formed under the leadership of Swarnalata Minj, in-charge of Rairangpur Town Police Station. The wife of the deceased had told the police that Vicky had an illicit relationship with Khushboo. Based on this, the police started raids with the help of Jamshedpur police and arrested Khushbu and her husband.

During interrogation, both of them told the police that together with Vicky, both used to do illegal business of prostitution.

They claimed that Vicky has also gone to jail for this and recently came out of jail. After coming from jail, he was blackmailing both of them demanding money.

Troubled by this, both made a plan to kill Vicky. On March 20, both reached Rairangpur and brought Vicky to Jamshedpur on the pretext of giving money. Vicky was first made to drink alcohol at Sonari residence in Jamshedpur and then stabbed and killed. After killing, Vicky’s body was cut into four pieces with a saw.

One part (from knee to foot) Dobo and second part (from knee to waist) on Tata-Ranchi road, third part (from waist to chest) in Thanthani valley of Patmada police station area and fourth part (from chest to head) of Kamalpur police station area.

The police have recovered two pieces of the dead body. But till now the other two pieces have not been recovered. The police is looking for other pieces of the dead body along with Khushboo and Kamalkant. Forensic team from Odisha has also reached the city, which is probing the matter.
