Jamshedpur, Sept 19: In a major crackdown, police have arrested Md. Sahil alias Raja (20), a notorious criminal active in Golmuri and Kapali police station areas, and sent him to jail.
Acting on the directives of the Senior Superintendent of Police, a joint team comprising officials from Telco and Golmuri police stations, under the supervision of the City SP and City DSP, was formed.
Based on a tip-off, the team conducted raids in Golmuri, where Sahil had allegedly arrived to execute a criminal plan. The police nabbed him on the spot.
During interrogation, Sahil confessed to possessing illegal weapons. Following his lead, the police recovered a country-made 12-bore pistol, two live cartridges, and a sharp-edged chapar (machete) from his rented house in Barinagar.
The seized arms were sealed, and an FIR was registered at Telco police station.
According to police sources, Sahil has a criminal history with nine cases of loot, assault, and other offenses registered against him in Golmuri.
His arrest is expected to bring relief to the local residents by curbing criminal activities in the area.
Police are currently investigating his criminal network for further leads.
