Jamshedpur: No Entry timings changed in view of Diwali

Jamshedpur, Oct 21: The new No Entry timing for heavy vehicles was implemented from today in view of Dhanteras and Diwali festivities. Heavy vehicles will not operate from 6 am on Diwali (24 October) to 6 am on the second day (25 October). In this regard, the DC Vijaya Jadhav, SSP Prabhat Kumar and Traffic DSP have issued a joint order. Moreover, on October 22, from 3 o’clock in the day to 1 o’clock in the night, heavy vehicles will not be operated in the city. Similarly, heavy vehicles will not operate on 23rd October from 3 pm to 1 pm.

Keeping in mind the Diwali, the order issued by the district administration will not be applicable on the operation of the bus. Minibus and other passenger buses will continue to operate as usual. Necessary guidelines have also been given to all the station in-charges to ensure that this order is followed.

Security in the steel city has been beefed up in view of Diwali. Additional police forces will be deployed at sensitive places including Railway Station and crowded places in the city. All police stations have been asked to keep a tab on spots infamous for gambling.

An official said that they would start raiding the places where gambing is organised. “We have received information about gambling. We have decided to conduct raids at the public places like bus-stand, parks, empty houses or under-constructed houses.  We will arrest those found indulged in the act and will prosecute them under Section 13 of the gambling act,” said Kumar.

The DSP said those who organise the gambling if caught during the raids will be prosecuted under 3/4 of the Gambling Act and will get bail from the court only. He stated that the officers in-charge of the police stations have been instructed to check gambling in their respective areas.

Other places where gambling is organised include marketplaces in Sakchi, Bistupur, Kadma, Sonari and Golmuri.  The gambling is also held at some houses in the residential locality of Baradwari, Sonari and Sakchi.

Another police official went on to add that several preventive measures have been taken to deal with any adverse situation in the district. He has directed the fire department officers to ensure that fire tenders are stationed at important places and other places in view of the possibility of fire.

He said that in view of heavy rush in the market, a constable had been deployed to guard prominent businessmen including big jewellery shop owners in the city. Police deployed in market areas were vigilant to avoid untoward incidents. For the peaceful conduct of Diwali, adequate police forces have been deployed at sensitive and crowded places to avoid untoward incidents in the city. Police patrolling has been intensified at various places in the city.
