Jamshedpur: New labour laws to have wide impact on industries, says Deputy Labour Commissioner Rajesh Prasad

CII Jharkhand organises workshop on ‘Decoding the New Labour Law Codes 2020’

Jamshedpur, June 3: The labour ministry has consolidated 29 central labour laws into four labour codes – the code on wages, the social security code, the industrial relations code, and the occupational, safety, health and working conditions code. Against this background, CII Jharkhand organized a Half Day Workshop on New Labour Law Codes 2020 & its Impact on Industry on Friday, 3 June 2022 at Auditorium, Centre for Excellence, Jamshedpur.

Rajesh Prasad, Deputy Labour Commissioner & Additional Registrar – Trade Union, Department of Labour, Employment, Training & Skill Development, Government of Jharkhand was the Chief Guest & speaker during the workshop. Prasad updated the participants on the proposed changes in the labour codes and said that the new labour laws will have a wide impact on the industry. Prasad gave a brief presentation on the proposed changes with respect to Jharkhand on Wage Code & Industrial Relations Code. The queries and doubts related to the new codes were also solved by Prasad.

Tapas Sahu, Chairman, CII Jharkhand State Council and Managing Director & CEO, Highco Engineers Pvt Ltd said that companies need to focus on reviewing the employment models, changing policies and processes, revisiting the salary structure of employees and determining the financial implications triggered due to the changes. Over 90% of India’s 50 crore workers are in the unorganised sector. And through these new codes the government wants to ensure that all of them enjoy the benefits of labour laws related to minimum wages and social security.

Shilpi Shiwangi, Convenor, CII Jharkhand HR & IR Panel & Chief People Officer, The Indian Steel & Wire Products Ltd gave the Theme Address during the session and updated participants the need for organizing the workshop & R Santosshi, Co Convenor – CII Jharkhand HR & IR Panel & Head of Business Excellence, JAMIPOL gave the formal vote of Thanks & concluding remarks during the workshop. Over 60 delegates participated in this important workshop.
