Jamshedpur, July 13: Police arrested one Anoop Chakravarty, resident of Bagbera Bajrang Tekri, in connection with the murder of his associate Amit Singh.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), East Singhbhum, Dr M Tamil Vanan, “The accused with the help of his aides, Sonu Karmakar, Amit Singh and three others had gone to Burmamines to kill one Chhota Sonu. All of them were in an inebriated state. As Chhota Sonu was not at home, the five planned to vandalize a two-wheeler belonging to Sipankar Bhadra, a friend and neighbour Chhota Sonu. The five vandalized Sipankar’s scooty parked outside. Just then Anoop took out his pistol and fired in the air. Sonu Karmakar asked him to kill Sipankar and tried to snatch the pistol from his hand. In the snatching, the bullet went off, killing Amit standing nearby. Amit’s friends informed Anil Singh, elder brother of the deceased, about the incident. Amit was taken to Tata Main Hospital where he died during treatment.”
The SSP said Anil Singh had given wrong information to police regarding Amit Singh’s death. Earlier, Chhota Sonu was a member of Sonu Karmakar’s gang. Four months ago, he had quit the gang. On the day of incident, Sonu and his friends were drinking when they came up with the plan to kill Chhota Sonu, sources said.
