Jamshedpur, July 29: Armed assailants gunned down Ajay Shah alias Tinku, a businessman in C Road, Kagalnagar at Sonari on Friday morning, police said.
In an early morning incident, a gang of bike-borne criminals shot dead a 37-year-old JMM activist.
The victim was identified as Ajay Shah, alias Tinku. The incident took place at about 7.30 am when he stopped near a shop after dropping his son at a school.
The incident took place behind a beetle shop along the C-Road in Kagalnagar locality. While the victim was buying milk and other food items from the shop having parked his car nearby, four youths came there on two bikes and asked Tinku to come behind the shop to talk. As he followed them behind the shop, they instantly opened shots at him from close range.
Tinku received three bullets in the head and two in the abdomen and collapsed on the spot. Soon after the crime, the assailants fled the spot easily.
As the news spread, a police party rushed to the spot. The police recovered six empty cartridges from the spot while shifting the body to the MGM medical college mortuary for postmortem.
A resident of Khuntadih in Sonari, Tinku had a real estate business and he was also active with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha. According to sources, Tinku had enmity with a notorious criminal Manish Prasad who is a resident of Jugsalai.
City SP, K Vijay Shankar said that are trying to detect those responsible for the murder of Tinku. For the detection of the assailants, they are taking the statement of the shopkeeper and also trying to collect CCTV footage of the area.
Meanwhile, the city police are witnessing some testing times with the beginning of the New Year. While the deteriorating law and order situation in the city remain major concern, the city witnessed spurt in suicides too.
There is no denying the fact the district administration has increased police surveillance activity over the weeks with scores of policemen in uniform and plain clothes holding surprise checks of the vehicles and arms at every nook and corner of the city.
But, the criminals have managed to accomplish their unlawful agenda despite heavy police bandobast reminiscing the days of early nineties.
Revolvers, live cartridges, hockey stick seized from Ajay’s car
Ajay was shot dead by criminals on Kagalnagar road under Sonari police station on Friday morning. Police, while searching inside Ajay’s car, found one fake and two original revolvers and live cartridges. A hockey stick was also recovered. Bullets were also kept in the car. The police were investigating the reasons for the arms seized from the deceased’s car and trying to trace the clues to the source of procurement of these weapons.Where did the weapon come from in the car of the deceased and for what incident he had kept the weapon, the police is investigating it.
