Jamshedpur, July 9: On the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, the 25th edition of the Ramarcha Puja is set to begin on Thursday at J-42, Bistupur. Organized entirely by Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy using his personal savings, the puja is scheduled for July 10 and 11.
Speaking at a press conference, Roy shared that this traditional puja originated in Ayodhya and has now spread across various parts of the country. “I do not accept any donations or assistance for this puja. It is completely funded from my own income,” he emphasized. He added that introducing people to Sanatan Dharma and its deep-rooted traditions is one of the core purposes of this religious event.
On July 10, the puja will begin at 8 AM, followed by Rudrabhishek and distribution of mahaprasad on July 11 at Milanee Hall. “Ramarcha Puja involves the worship of Lord Ram and all his allies—Hanuman, Vibhishan, Angad, Jambavan and others—who supported him during his exile and the battle against Lanka,” Roy explained. It also includes special prayers to Goddess Kali, Lord Shiva and King Dasharatha’s family.
He further invited the public, saying, “I urge everyone to attend the puja and accept prasadam, especially the unique ‘Haathikan Puri’ and vegetables prepared by artisans from Buxar.”
The rituals typically last seven to eight hours and are attended by large numbers of devotees each year.
