Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur West MLA Saryu Roy has expressed displeasure after development projects worth over ₹16.23 crore remained stalled, despite their foundation stones being officially laid months ago. The legislator termed the prolonged delay an injustice to the residents of Jamshedpur and Mango.
Roy has written an official letter to the Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department demanding immediate intervention.
According to the legislator, the District Planning Committee had approved 21 separate urban development schemes under the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC), totalling ₹3.24 crore. Although officials finalized the tenders and laid the foundation stones on March 14, 2026, ground contractors have yet to begin construction.
Similarly, in the Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) area, Roy highlighted that 39 public welfare projects worth ₹12.99 crore have been completely stalled since their foundation stones were laid on December 29, 2025.
“It is deeply unfortunate that despite the Urban Development Department releasing funds and the District Planning Committee selecting these public welfare initiatives, the work hasn’t begun. They will now fail to meet their deadlines, forcing the general public to face ongoing hardships,” Roy stated in his letter.
The MLA noted that he was personally present at both foundation stone-laying ceremonies. Despite repeatedly drawing the attention of JNAC and MMC authorities to the issue, no progress has been made on the ground even though contractors have already been officially appointed. Roy has urged the Principal Secretary to initiate swift disciplinary and administrative action to ensure the immediate execution and timely completion of these vital civic projects.
