Jamshedpur, Aug 7: In a major breakthrough, the police recovered 14 landmines (each weighing about 5 to 6 kg) from Dalma hill area under Bodam police station. The landmines were planted targeting security forces. A team of bomb squad deactivated the explosives.
” During the patrolling the police personnel recovered the landmines. We immediately pressed an anti-bomb disposal squad on service and the explosives were defused,” said a police official. He said except for the planting of the landmines, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the East Singhbhum district today.
In view of the Naxal activities, the police have made elaborate security arrangements across the twin districts of Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharsawan district.
The official said they have deployed police and para-military forces CRPF on the NH-33 and have intensified patrolling of rebel hit -hold areas since early this morning.

The administration of East Singhbhum made arrangements for safe passage of commercial vehicles on NH-33. An escort was provided to the convoy of commercial vehicles. An anti-landmine vehicle was pressed into service between Baharagora and Pardih.
It may be noted that in recent days, the Inspector General of Police and the Inspector General of Police, CRPF, had instructed to intensify the campaign against the Naxalites by visiting the highly Naxal affected area of Kolhan Area Committee, Seraikela Kharsawan district. After which the district police force, including the CRPF, is continuously conducting anti-Naxal search operations. In the same rage, Naxalites planted the IED bomb.

Sources informed that a sudden rise in the Maoists activities have let the forces intensify the patrolling. Following the incident the police have launched combing operations in the naxal-infested areas of East Sighbhum.
In the last few days an anti insurgency operation in Kolhan has been intensified following intelligence reports that suggest rebels are camping in the pockets. The administration has increased police patrolling on the bordering areas connecting to West Bengal and has also deployed adequate numbers of paramilitary personnel on areas potential to rebel attack.
