Jamshedpur: Mango Municipal Corporation sends reminder notice to Citi Inn hotel

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur, Nov 28: The Mango Municipal Corporation (MMC) has issued a reminder notice to the Citi Inn directing the hotel’s owner to furnish the proof of building plan approval and relevant documents concerning the ownership documents of the land on which the hotel has been built.

Prior to this, the MMC had sent a similar notice on November 19 to the hotel owner, Vinod Singh, for submission of the documents. MMC officials said that the reminder notice has been sent since there has been no response from the hotel owner.

A probe had instituted against the hotel owner after a four-storey building located adjacent to it in the same campus near Pardih Chowk, Mango, collapsed late on November 17. MMC officials said that the building had been constructed two decades ago. The resounding crash with which the building came down late in the night had triggered panic among the local residents. There was, however, no loss of life or property reported due to the collapse of the building.

The four-storey building that housed a skill development centre tilted backwards after developing huge cracks. The 250 students who were enrolled at the centre were shifted out on November 15 as soon as the cracks had surfaced. The MMC had sealed the building located along the NH-33 in Mango after it tilted to one side, striking fear among the locals.

In view of the apprehension of a major accident and danger to life and property due to a crack in the building located next to Hotel Citi Inn, Mango Pardih, the Dhalbhum subdivision administration imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 of CrPC in a radius of 100 meters there.
