Jamshedpur, Nov 28: Sonari police arrested Deep Machhua (22) on Thursday for allegedly raping a 10-year-old mentally challenged girl on November 26 at 5:30 PM.
According to the victim’s mother’s FIR, Machhua, a neighbor, approached the girl while she was playing in the courtyard and forcibly took her away. When the mother attempted to stop him, he left with the child. Witnesses later saw the pair emerging from a well, with the girl’s clothes covered in dust.
The mother became suspicious and took the girl to MGM Hospital, where medical examination confirmed sexual assault. The victim, who has mental health challenges, was unable to immediately describe the incident.
Police promptly registered a case against Machhua after the medical report and mother’s complaint. The accused was arrested from Khuntadih and sent to judicial custody.
