Jamshedpur: Legal Awareness programme at KPS Kadma

Jamshedpur, July 3: A legal Awareness Programme for students of Std IX and above was conducted at Kerala Public School (KPS), Kadma on ‘Drug Abuse and Eradication of Drug Menace’ under Jharkhand Legal Awareness Authority’s (JHALSA) project, ‘Vatsalya,’ on July 3.

The Director of the school, Sharat Chandran, Academic Director Lakshmi Sharat, Principal Sharmila Mukherjee and Headmistress Alamelu Ravishankar were present on the occasion.

First Class Judicial Magistrates of Jamshedpur Civil Court, Aditya Kumar and Numan Khan Azam and Panel Lawyer Shamshad Khan, in their discussions aimed at creating better awareness among students, on substance abuse. They informed the students on the ill effects of drug abuse and the modalities required to deal with different situations without taking recourse in drugs.

Principal Sharmila Mukherjee initiated the programme by stressing on the importance of a safe and supportive school environment. “It is important to set clear policies and procedures that provide care, counseling and support for all students to eradicate the drug menace and ensure a cooperative approach among students, teachers ,parents and society in general,” she observed..

The vote of thanks was proposed by the school’s Headmistress, Alamelu Ravishankar while emphasizing on the ill effects of substance abuse and motivated the youth to be   responsible citizens..
