Chaibasa/Jamshedpur, Sep 7: Kolhan University’s Disciplinary Committee and Women’s Grievance Redressal Cell have jointly suspended the PG HOD Philosophy Dr. KK Akhouri for sending obscene messages to girl students. The Vice Chancellor Dr. Gangadhar Panda took the suspension action after holding talks with the office bearers of both the committees. After the matter came to light on Monday, the committee had taken the statement of the accused professor and the girl student.
On behalf of the Disciplinary Committee, Dr. SN Mahali, DSW Dr. SC Das, Science Dean Dr. BN Prasad, Proctor MA Khan, CCDC Manoj Mahapatra, Registrar Jayant Shekhar and on behalf of the Women’s Grievance Redressal Cell, Dr. Mudita Chandra, Dr. Rama Subramaniam, Dr. Rinki Dorai were prominently present. University spokesperson Dr. PK Pani said that Raj Bhavan is also being apprised about the action to issue notification regarding suspension of Dr. KK Akhouri. Meanwhile, the police sent the accused professor to judicial custody on Tuesday morning. Dr. KK Akhouri was taken into custody by the police after he was thrashed by the students of Kolhan University on Monday for sending obscene messages. An FIR was registered at the police station on the statement of the victim girl student. After this, the 64-year-old professor was sent to jail on Tuesday.
