Jamshedpur, July 8: Adityapur-based businessman Kanhaiya Singh paid the cost of coming in the way of his daughter’s love life and threatening her boyfriend Rajveer Singh and his family with his life.

This was revealed here on Friday by Superintendent of Police, Seraikela-Kharsawan Anand Prakash and Harvinder Singh, head of special investigation team (SIT) that probed the Kanhaiya Singh murder case.

Addressing a press conference, the SP said, “Kanhaiya’s daughter Aparna Singh had given her diamond ring to Rajveer to arrange money for hiring the shooters and carrying out the murder plan. But instead of selling the ring, Rajveer himself paid the shooter.”

According to the SP, four persons have been arrested in the murder case so far while two are at large. The SIT arrested Aparna, Rajveer, shooter Nikhil Gupta and Sourabh Kisku, son of Seraikela-Kharsawan district Congress president Chhotrai Kisku on the basis of evidence showing their involvement in planning and execution of the murder. Technical cell of police department got clue into the killing with the help of call details and WhatsApp messages exchanged among the accused persons.

The SP said Kanhaiya Singh, on getting whiff of his daughter’s five year old love affair, went to Rajveer’s house and allegedly threatened and abused him and his family members at Majhi Tola, Adityapur. He also reportedly flaunted pistol to threaten them. Due to pressure from Kanhaiya Singh, Rajveer’s family reportedly sold off their Adityapur house and shifted to Dimna Road at a rented accommodation, said the SP.

Later, when Kanhaiya started looking for a suitable match for his daughter, the latter planned to kill him with the help of Rajveer. Rajveer took help of Nikhil Gupta and procured a country-made pistol from Bihar for Rs 8500 through Sourabh Kisku.

“Aparna was the main conspirator of the murder. She shared the location of her father with other accused. The murder plan was being hatched for the last three years. On 20^th June last, the accused persons made an abortive attempt to kill Kanhaiya Singh in Patna. Later, they succeeded in killing him on 29^th June at his Adityapur apartment. Nikhil Gupta had shot Kanhaiya. He was accompanied by two other shooters, Ravi Sardar and Chhotu Diggi. All three escaped in different directions after the murder,” said the SP.

Police have seized Nikhil’s clothes, shoes, a pistol, one bullet case and four mobile phones in connection with the murder.

According to police, Nikhil had got Rs 4000 cash and a diamond ring for killing Kanhaiya Singh and was supposed to get more money after the murder.

The SP said the SIT members would be rewarded for their achievement in the case.

CCTV cameras and security guards must in apartments: SP

Jamshedpur, July 8: Superintendent of Police, Seraikela-Kharsawan Anand Prakash Friday said the police had found several loopholes in the security of Kanhaiya Singh’s apartment during investigation into his murder.

“During investigation, we found that there was no security guard in the apartment and CCTV camera was also not there,” said the SP.

According to the SP, police succeeded in cracking the case on the basis of CCTV cameras installed nearby. In an appeal to the citizens, he said, “There are hundreds of apartments in the district and it is not possible for police to provide security in all of them. Besides, we also work with limited manpower. I appeal to people to install CCTV cameras in their apartments for security and also keep at least one security guard to prevent crimes.”

The SP further said that the district police would tighten noose around those involved in the supply of illegal country-made weapons to various gangs to control crime effectively.
