Jamshedpur, Feb 4: The Jugsalai police have successfully cracked a high-value burglary case involving jewellery worth nearly Rs 1 crore, arresting the accused within just 24 hours of the crime and recovering the entire stolen property.
The theft took place on the night of February 1 at a residence located near Seva Sadan Hospital on M.E. School Road under the Jugsalai police station area.
An unidentified burglar broke into the house, smashed open an almirah and fled with diamond, gold and silver jewellery along with cash.
Following the complaint, the police launched an intensive investigation. CCTV footage from the surrounding areas was closely examined, and the dog squad was pressed into service.
Acting on technical evidence, ground inputs and confidential information, the police identified the suspect and conducted a swift raid, leading to the arrest of Ritik Kumar Singh.
During interrogation, the accused confessed to the crime, and on his disclosure, the police recovered the entire cache of stolen items.
The seized valuables include gold bangles, bracelets, chains, rings, lockets, coins, diamond-studded ornaments, silver coins, anklets, earrings and a substantial amount of cash. Experts have estimated the total value of the recovered property to be around Rs 1 crore.
In addition, police also seized clothes, a muffler, handkerchief and a pillow cover allegedly used during the crime, indicating that the burglary was carried out in a well-planned manner.
The accused is currently being interrogated to ascertain whether he was involved in similar thefts in the past and to identify any possible accomplices. Further legal proceedings in the case are underway.
