Jamshedpur: Residents across various localities under the Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee (JNAC) will soon find relief from dark streets at night. The JNAC administration has drafted a comprehensive plan to repair and restart streetlights that have remained non-functional due to poor maintenance.
Deputy Municipal Commissioner Krishna Kumar stated that the administration has divided the entire JNAC jurisdiction into 10 distinct groups for systematic repair and maintenance. The project will cost a total of ₹2,28,38,000, with a budget of ₹22,83,000 allocated to each group.
The plan covers almost all major residential and industrial hubs, including:
-
East Jamshedpur: All zones of Birsanagar, Baridih, Vidyapatinagar, Moharda, and Jemco.
-
Central & Industrial: Burmamines, Golmuri, Cable Town, Jojobera, Bhuiyandih, and Bagunhatu.
-
West Jamshedpur: Shastrinagar, Kadma, Uliyan, and Sonari Beldih Basti.
The JNAC will require the selected agencies to ensure the uninterrupted operation of streetlights for one year. During this period, the agency will handle all responsibilities, from daily operation to fixing technical faults. Officials expect this initiative to strengthen urban security and significantly reduce road accidents caused by poor visibility.
