Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren pledges major reforms to boost education

Jamshedpur: Newly appointed Jharkhand’s Minister for School Education, Literacy, and Registration, Ramdas Soren, marked his first visit to the city on Saturday after assuming office. Amid grand receptions organized by the JMM District Committee and branch committees, Minister Soren outlined the state government’s ambitious plans to revitalize the education system.

The Minister was welcomed with garlands near Domukhani Dobo Puliya and later paid tributes at the Samadhi Sthal of Shaheed Nirmal Mahato in Kadma Ulian. At Sakchi’s Bhagwan Birsa Munda Park, he honored the statue of Dharti Aaba, Bhagwan Birsa Munda, with floral offerings.

Soren emphasized that the state government is determined to take critical steps to uplift education in Jharkhand. Highlighting the closure of several schools during former Chief Minister Raghubar Das’s tenure, he stated that their reopening and improvement would be a priority to ensure inclusive education for all.

Minister Soren identified the shortage of teachers as one of the biggest challenges in the state’s education sector. “The lack of adequate teachers in many schools has hindered the quality of education. The state government will expedite recruitment processes to fill vacancies,” he assured. This initiative aims not only to address staffing gaps but also to enhance the overall educational experience for students.

In recognition of Jharkhand’s cultural diversity, Soren announced plans to integrate regional languages, including Santali, into the school curriculum. “Teaching children in their mother tongue will strengthen their connection to their roots and boost their confidence,” he said. The government will ensure the availability of educational resources in local languages, fostering inclusivity and cultural pride.

Soren also addressed the need to reconsider schools that were shut down in the past, emphasizing the government’s commitment to providing better infrastructure and facilities for students. The revival of these schools is expected to widen access to education in remote and underserved areas.
