Jamshedpur Jewellery Shop Loot Case: Police intensify efforts, DIG convenes meeting

Jamshedpur: Seraikela-Kharsawan district police are leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of the criminals behind the recent Adityapur jewellery shop heist. As investigations hit a roadblock despite the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT), Kolhan Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajay Linda chaired a review meeting on Thursday to assess the progress of the case. In a bid to widen the scope of the investigation, the East Singhbhum police have now been included in the collaborative efforts.

Addressing reporters at the Adityapur police station, where the review meeting took place, DIG Ajay Linda shed light on the challenges faced by investigators. He emphasized that while the case remains shrouded in mystery, the professionalism displayed by the perpetrators strongly suggests that they are outsiders. The criminals’ astute removal of the CCTV camera’s DVR has complicated the investigation, but the DIG remains optimistic about a breakthrough.

Linda revealed that the Jamshedpur police have been called upon to lend their expertise to the probe, leveraging their technical capabilities to aid in unraveling the intricacies of the case. “We are hopeful of cracking the case soon,” assured Linda, demonstrating the determination of the law enforcement agencies to bring the culprits to justice.

The incident, which transpired on the morning of August 6, saw a gang of three criminals execute a meticulously planned heist at Ishwarlal Jewellers, situated in the bustling Gamharia market under the jurisdiction of the Adityapur police station. Masked and seemingly disguised as customers, the criminals cunningly requested the shop owner to showcase jewellery intended for a daughter’s impending wedding.

Exploiting the opportunity, the criminals strategically overpowered both the shop owner and salesmen at gunpoint after the selection of ornaments from the display cases. In a swift and orchestrated move, they fled the scene with a staggering haul of gold ornaments valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh.

The audacity and precision of the crime have left local authorities baffled, prompting a comprehensive multi-agency response. With the collaboration of Seraikela-Kharsawan district police, East Singhbhum police, and the expertise of Jamshedpur’s technical cell, the pursuit of justice intensifies. As the investigators continue to sift through evidence and follow leads, the community remains hopeful that the combined efforts will soon lead to the apprehension of those responsible for the brazen Adityapur jewellery shop loot.
