764 units blood collected at camp, next camp on Oct 10

Jamshedpur, Oct 2: �Jamshedpur is ideal in the area of blood donation. It is indeed heartening to see so many people ready to donate blood, a feature that speaks of positive concern for society. We are celebrating this year as the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and today�s blood donation camp becomes all the more significant because Bapu always took up issues on social commitment,� observed East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner-cum- President of Indian Red Cross Society East Singhbhum Ravi Shankar Shukla.
960 donors were present on the occasion but due to fasting on the occasion of Navratri only the names of 764 donors were registered. The Honorary General Secretary of the Society Vijay Kumar Singh stated that another camp would be organized on October 10 when donors who could not participate in today�s camp for certain reasons would be invited to donate blood on the occasion.
Among other dignitaries present were SDO Chandan Kumar, social worker Bailey Bodhanwala, Vikas Singh, Nalini Ramamurthy, Diwakar Singh, Ashok Bhalotia, Arun Bankrewal, Balmukund Goyal, Shankarlal Gupta, Sudipto Mukherjee, Arun Ghosh, Ashok Kumar Chowdhury, Bharat Vasani, Satyanarayan Agrawal, senior journalist Jai Prakash Rai, Udit Agrawal, Purabi Ghosh, I Sriniwas Rao, I Lakshmi, Prabhunath Singh, DK Ghosh, Dr TB Dutta and Dipak Mitra.
A team led by Jamshedpur Blood bank Administrator Sanjay Chowdhary helped in blood collection and thanked the donors. Voluntary Blood Donors� Association members lent their able support in organizing the camp.
