Jamshedpur: BJP Faces Heat After Infant Kidnapping Accused Linked to Party Arrested

Mail News Service

Jamshedpur: Police have cracked the sensational kidnapping of a four-month-old baby, Indradev Sardar, who was stolen from the Dhegam weekly market under the Kowali police station area in East Singhbhum district.

The accused, Jhumarani Mandal of Bhelaidih, has been arrested. She is a former president of the BJP Kowali Mandal Mahila Morcha. Following the police breakthrough, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) held a press conference at the Jamshedpur Circuit House and launched a strong attack on the BJP.

Senior JMM leader Pramod Lal alleged that the BJP was trying to malign the Hemant Soren government and create instability in the state. He said the involvement of a woman associated with the BJP in such a serious crime was a matter of grave concern.

Pramod Lal also referred to recent incidents of missing children in Ranchi and claimed that the BJP’s role in the question paper leak cases was also suspicious. Displaying a photocopy of a newspaper photograph, he said Jhumarani Mandal was seen in a BJP programme alongside Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato and other party leaders, which, according to him, establishes her close association with the party.

He further stated that the Hemant Soren government has already issued strict instructions to remain alert against such crimes and demanded that the BJP give a clear reply on these issues. He also accused BJP workers of creating an atmosphere of fear in areas like Potka and other parts of the district.

The press conference was attended by JMM leaders Sheikh Badruddin, Sunil Mahato, Chandravati, and Sudhir Soren, among others.
