Jamshedpur, June 26: The Bihar-Jharkhand Income Tax Employees Federation has intensified its agitation over pending demands, launching a strong protest in Jamshedpur on Thursday. Members of the Jamshedpur unit wore black badges in front of their departmental office to mark the beginning of what they described as a do-or-die battle.
Addressing the gathering, the Federation’s Vice President highlighted the immediate withdrawal of the 2025 Transfer Rules as the movement’s most urgent demand. He criticized the new policy for doing away with special provisions that previously benefited women employees and persons with disabilities, now placing all under a uniform transfer process. He called this move unjust and said it was strongly opposed by the Federation.
The Vice President also raised concerns about the lack of basic infrastructure and facilities across various offices of the Income Tax Department. Employees, he said, were struggling to work in difficult conditions due to the unavailability of essential resources. The Federation urged the government to address these infrastructural issues promptly to ensure a conducive working environment.
Outlining the phased protest strategy, the Federation said that the current black badge demonstration marked the first step. Future measures would include half-day and full-day walkouts if their demands remain unaddressed. The Federation has issued a July 9 deadline, after which a larger and more aggressive agitation will be launched if no action is taken by the government or relevant authorities.
The Federation expressed hope that the government would respond seriously and take constructive steps to safeguard the interests of Income Tax Department employees. (w/gsd)
