Jamshedpur: The Jamshedpur Horticultural Society today extended a warm and emotional farewell to Chanakya Choudhary, former Vice President, Corporate Services, Tata Steel Ltd., at a special ceremony held at the Society’s Conference Hall.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Sumita Nupur, President of the Society, who lauded Choudhary’s unwavering support and longstanding contribution to the organization. She credited him as a key figure behind the society’s growth, highlighting his role in securing office space and developing a rose garden that continues to be nurtured for the benefit of the citizens of Jamshedpur.
Also present at the occasion were Ruchi Narendran, Chairperson of the Society; Colonel Earnest Paul, Vice President; Anuradha Mahapatra, General Secretary; Aswani Srivastava and Jayanta Ghosh, Joint Secretaries, along with several members of the society.
Speaking at the event, Ruchi Narendran referred to Choudhary as the “Green Man of Jamshedpur,” noting his instrumental role in fostering environmental awareness and enhancing the city’s green spaces through the society’s work.
In his address, Choudhary expressed gratitude for the society’s gesture and reiterated his commitment to the cause of horticulture and urban greenery. “It has always been a tradition in Jamshedpur to begin events with a tree planting – a reflection of our city’s green values,” he remarked. He assured continued support to the society in its future endeavors.
As a token of appreciation, a memento was presented to Choudhary by Narendran and Nupur, symbolizing the society’s heartfelt thanks for his dedication and encouragement.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Aswani Srivastava, Joint Secretary of the society.
