Jamshedpur (IANS): A government health department employee allegedly held a 15-year-old girl hostage and raped her, city police officials said on Wednesday. The crime took place in Kitadih, under the jurisdiction of the Parsudih Police Station in Steel City.
According to the complaint, the accused, Munna Tamsi—an employee in the malaria department in Gamharia—lured the minor girl from his neighbourhood to his residence late at night, where he held her captive and assaulted her. A complaint in this regard has been registered at the Parsudih police station.
Police said the traumatized girl returned home later that night but initially remained silent out of fear. The matter came to light the next morning when she narrated her ordeal to her elder sister.
Police Launch Manhunt for Absconding Employee
Upon learning about the incident, local Panchayat Samiti member Draupadi Murmu and the victim’s family immediately went to the Parsudih police station to lodge an official complaint.
Acting swiftly, a police team raided the location and seized the suspect’s motorcycle. However, Tamsi evaded arrest and has been missing since the incident came to light.
The incident has sparked severe outrage among Jamshedpur residents and public representatives. Local leaders strongly condemned the criminal act, calling it a massive stain on society, especially since the accused works for a government department responsible for public welfare.
“Multiple police teams are currently conducting targeted raids at various suspected locations to track down and arrest the absconding employee,” a senior police official stated.
Meanwhile, local public representatives and community members demanded immediate action, urging authorities to fast-track the legal proceedings through a speedy trial to ensure the harshest possible punishment for the accused.
